SOCO RWA
A New chapter of Romance Writers of America

SOCO RWA is a brand new chapter of Romance Writers of America, dedicated to serving career-focused romance writers through networking, advocacy, community, and (we hope) fun! We’re a regional chapter that will serve both Southern Oregon and Central Oregon, with chapter-wide meetings online and satellite breakout meetings in person in our different locations (currently Medford and Bend). While we’re rooted in Oregon, we warmly welcome anyone from anywhere who’s looking for a supportive romance writing community to grow and connect with.
SOCO RWA is committed to the ideal of advocacy and education for all authors, both published and pre-published. We feel that our organization, chapter and the publishing industry as a whole cannot be complete without diverse voices, perspectives and talent, and recognizing that this hasn’t been achieved yet, are committed to continuing work toward this ideal.

Meet the Board of Directors

USA Today bestselling, multi-award-nominated, and critically-acclaimed author Megan Crane has written more than 150 books and shows no sign of slowing down. She publishes contemporary romance and paranormal romance as Megan Crane (and briefly M.M. Crane) with an extensive backlist of women’s fiction, rom-coms, chick lit, and young adult novels—among other things. She’s also won a large and loyal fanbase as Caitlin Crews with Harlequin Presents, Harlequin Dare, Harlequin Historical, and contemporary cowboy books. And for Midwestern small town coziness, found families, romance, and some paranormal scariness thrown in, Megan partners with Nicole Helm to publish as Hazel Beck.
Megan has a Masters and Ph.D. in English Literature, has taught creative writing classes in places like UCLA Extension’s prestigious Writers’ Program, and is always available to give workshops (or her opinion). She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her comic book artist husband, though, at any given time, she is likely to either be huddled in a coffee shop somewhere or off traveling the world. Preferably both.

Kama O’Connor writes medical and ranching romances as Kristine Lynn. To date, she has fourteen novels published with Harlequin, Tule, and other publishers and serves as the secretary for Southern Oregon Central Oregon RWA chapter. When she’s not writing, she’s drinking copious amounts of espresso, hiking, running, and teaching on the Oregon Coast, where she lives with her daughter and dog. You can find her at www.kristinelynnauthor.com.

Maisey Yates is a New York Times bestselling author of over one hundred romance novels. Whether she’s writing strong, hard working cowboys, dissolute princes or multigenerational family stories, she loves getting lost in fictional worlds. An avid knitter with a dangerous yarn addiction and an aversion to housework, Maisey lives with her husband and three kids in rural Oregon.
Amelia Husbands is a graduate of the MFA in Creative Writing program at Willamette University. She is a copywriter for two Oregon publications, a fiction writer, and a developmental editor. Amelia previously spent over four years in the public relations agency industry before shifting her focus to storytelling and narrative strategy. Her poem “Finding Human” was recently published in the Central Oregon Writers Guild Anthology. She lives in Bend, Oregon with her husband and their pup, Huey, where they love to explore the outdoors. You can find her at ameliahusbands.com.

Award-winning author Anna Grace writes fun, heartfelt romance novels that have been described as “having the feel good vibes of a Hallmark film, with the emotional complexity of book club fiction.” Anna’s Oregon roots, love of family and community shine through in her multiple series with Harlequin Heartwarming. Whether exploring the west with her husband in their remodeled sprinter van, or wandering new city streets in search of an art museum, Anna loves to travel. You can find her on social media where she’s busy stamping likes on images of cappuccino, novels, and other people’s dogs.
